RECIPE BOOK
TIRAMISU CAKE
Tiramisù (Tiramesù) is a coffee-flavored cheese cake originated from Italy with a sprinkle of cacao powder on top. This cake is a dessert meant to be eaten using a spoon, hence categorized into an “al cucchiaio” or “by the spoon” dessert.
Tiramisu is not made using batter nor it is baked. The main ingredient is finger biscuits that are soaked in coffee and mascarpone cheese. The biscuits are then stacked and coated with whipped cream before being chilled in the fridge so the cake does not crumble when served.
Tiramisu is known for its flavorful combination of the soft cake texture with a strong coffee and cheese taste. Biscuits, which are called Savoiardi biscuits, eggs, sugar, coffee, and cocoa powder are the main ingredients for the original recipe for tiramisu. According to the original recipe, this cake is shaped round, and is not mixed with alcoholic beverages (rum, Marsala wine, or cognac) because it was originally made for children and the elderly.
SWISS ROLL CAKE
Swiss Roll is a rolled sponge cake with a filling of your choice: jam, lemon curd, chocolate, butter cream, and more. It is sliced sideways across the end so each slice reveals a spiral pattern.
LAMINGTONS CAKE
Lamingtons cake is believed to be named after either Lord Lamington, who served as Governor of Queensland from 1896 to 1901, or his wife, Lady Lamington.
